Republicans Turn God Upside Down with Their Twisted Version of Religious Liberty

Article Date - 05/09/2016

We are not defending the Republican party but when accusations are inaccurate, especially discussing a religious topic, we want to set the record straight. In the article it states, "Republicans argue that Christian florists who are opposed to gay marriage should be able to deny service to gay couples seeking to obtain flowers for their wedding. Otherwise, devout florists would be forced to violate their own religious beliefs by condoning gay marriage merely by providing flowers."

According to that wording alone, it sounds as if a gay couple would walk into a florist shop that has religious beliefs not in line with the LGBT agenda that such customers would not be able to buy flowers and that is not true. The same was the case for the bakery that refused to create a gay cake and was sued to the point of being shutdown. The fact is that the florist and bakery both sold product to gay customers. Where they drew the line is when the bakery was asked to put a gay couple on the cake. The gay couple could have ordered the cake and bought their topping somewhere else, but no, the LGBT agenda is to shutdown businesses with religious convictions. Likewise, the florist is willing to sell hundreds of dollars worth of flowers to any gay couple, even if used in a wedding. They draw the line at selling the flowers with reference to the gay activity, and they definitely draw the line at going onsite with those flowers. Seeing there are other bakeries and other florists, these should have the freedom to refuse to do that which is not according to their beliefs. LGBT movement does not mean their agenda gets forced upon these shops. Further, these shops are not petitioning other shops to refuse service so there is no agenda trying to restrict LGBT people's freedom. This is an exaggerated story just to push an agenda.
