"In the movements now in progress in the United States to secure for the institutions and usages of the church the support of the state, Protestants are following in the steps of papists. Nay, more, they are opening the door for the papacy to regain in Protestant America the supremacy which she has lost in the Old World" {GC 573.1}. We do not hear such a cry from the left, hence we have always maintained that the only way to fulfill the prophecies about church and state uniting is by the "right" side as opposed to the left. Now, that does not leave the "left" out of the equation. Both are necessary to see this through, but we once again see the expected call for breaking down those two pillars of Protestantism (church) and Republicanism (representative government) to the point they will join to speak as a dragon (Revelation 13:11).
