Latter-day Saints lawsuits raise questions over Mormon tithing – can churches just invest funds members believe are for charity?

Article Date - 12/02/2023

"The lawsuit against the LDS church and Ensign Peak, filed on Oct. 31, 2023, is based on the premise that the church has violated its members’ trust by amassing massive investments in stocks, bonds, real estate and agriculture that don’t support charitable activities." Seems that both sides do not understand the purpose of tithe. Tithe is to pay the salaries of those employed by the church, most importantly that of ministers, but other leadership are also to be paid from the tied. Charity and investments are not to made from the tithe (Numbers 18:24).
