Although it is simple mistake, why have the law if it can be dismissed claiming a simple mistake? And if an average citizen did that, would they get the same allowance? Basically, our politicians are to be held at higher standard and not be allowed to have infractions excused so easily. If they are making such blatant mistakes, they are no longer considered a leader because a leader leads by example. We pick on this article not for political reasons or even a political party attack, but to point to the church. How many church leaders fall back on ignorance when caught in a falsehood? Many, because they obtain the position for pride, power, and any other ungodly reason even to the point of ignorance of the scriptures and expected Christians lifestyle. "Lift up a standard for the people" (Isaiah 62:10) is more than just waving the colors of a tribe or nation. Spiritually speaking, it is the character.
