Alcoholics will quickly refute this study by claiming other studies that have positive affects upon people. Everything has positive and negative affects. We accept the items that we appreciate the positives of knowing we need to deal with the negatives, if they are tolerable. What it actually comes down to, though, is what God declares. "Wine [is] a mocker, strong drink [is] raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise" (Proverbs 20:1). Only unwise people will defend the use of alcohol. Therefore, if one were to draw a list of positives and negatives about alcohol and that list showed 95% positive, it does not matter. God says to not use alcohol.
