This is not an unusual situation. Violence among fans is actually very common. The devil will use everything to enrage people against another and sometimes it gets to the point that death occurs. Look at all of the cities that get destroyed because their team won or their team lost. "Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?" (Psalms 2:1).
