We could take the approach that this is simply a sign of the last days, but instead, we are going to reveal the spiritual warfare (Revelation 12:7, Revelation 12:17).

There is God, represented by the mother in this case, who is doing everything right to raise up the children (us) properly and safely. Through force, Satan, represented by the father, does not care about us, does not care about anything except for revenge towards God. In the end, Satan has come "to steal, and to kill, and to destroy" (John 10:10). He makes sin to appear enjoyable and if there is any curbing of such enjoyment, God is pictured as depriving, mean, and definitely not fun. And of course all the things that lead up to sin, people simply are blind. They do not see the real character behind those things that Satan has created to entice to excitement, focusing upon the result instead of the means, etc. This explains So they utter, "What's wrong with this?" We are not only to avoid sin, but we are to "Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed [is] willing, but the flesh [is] weak" (Matthew 26:41).

People who look to have fun and to be happy are placing their focus on the wrong part of the equation. God focuses upon the means while Satan focuses upon the result, hence the phrase, "The ends justify the means." If we simply obey all that God says, He promises that we will be happy and blessed. We may even have fun, actually called enjoyment, along the way. But when we focus on getting the fun or the happiness, then anything and everything replaces the boring godly means. This is what causes materialism, experimenting with various substances, and participating in other worldly things. This explains why in the last 100 or so years that entertainment has exploded from a point of not existing to basically being addictive. This is why entertainment is always pushing more and more and more because people get used to the fix. Roller coasters of yesteryear are replaced with the newest thrill. The movies and TV programs are searching for the next shock factor. Places to hang out are replaced with even a newer place to hang out. Even the style of clothing, called fashion, pushes more and more.
